一 | (ECNS)-- China has launched its first large-scale project to recycle and reuse retired wind turbines in Jiuquan, Gansu Province, according to China Resources Recycling Group on Monday. The project involves refurbishing 25 wind turbines that have been in operation for more than 15 years. It aims to fill a gap in China’s high-value recycling and reuse of large-scale wind power equipment. Engineers are testing key components, including generators, gearboxes and towers, and repairing and upgrading them using independently developed technologies. The refurbished turbines have shown significantly improved performance, with some core components performing close to the level of brand-new products. They can be reused at small local power stations and for industrial power supply. Traditionally, retired wind turbines are either sent to landfills or incinerated. The new project increases the material reuse rate of wind turbines from 30% to 70%, helping reduce pollution and save land, according to project manager Jiang Dong. The company plans to establish a nationwide recycling network to standardize the recycling and reuse of retired wind and solar power equipment. (By Helen Mo, intern Lin Qiaochu)
。 (ECNS) -- A 25-year-old Chinese female student who had been missing for several days was found dead in Gyeongsan, South Korea, the Chinese Consulate General in Busan said on Tuesday after confirming the case with local police. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Xinhua News Agency reported. The consulate general said it had urged South Korean police to conduct a thorough investigation and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the law. It also pledged to provide full consular assistance to the student's family in handling follow-up matters. According to Yonhap News Agency, the student entered South Korea on Aug. 14 to collect her graduate school diploma and lost contact with her family after traveling to Daegu on the evening of Aug. 20. South Korean police apprehended the suspect in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, on Aug. 25 and later found the student's body at his residence. Police said the suspect, who had identified himself as the student's boyfriend, was also the person who initially reported her missing. Investigators are looking into whether he filed the report in an attempt to mislead the investigation. Police said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death, while investigators are also examining the suspect's possible motive, Yonhap reported. (By Zhang Dongfang)
